Hi. I normally don't go off babbling like this, but I feel the need to say what is on my mind. As a former student (class of 2000) I can say that you parents have no clue what goes on in school. You might as well be living on Mars. The politians think that they know what is going on and how to fix it so kids won't shoot each other in school and so forth. They are wrong. They don't know what it is like. They have no idea. They think it is because we are out of control and because we are all dress so different and because we have no religion and because our parents don't control our every move.
Well think about it.
Because we are stuffed into over crowded classes, have 8 hours of this, forced to dress the same, and I don't give a damn what you parents say, we do dress alike. We are forced to by you. Have you noticed the school supply lists? They are require brand name school supplies. So if you don't get them it is reflected on your grade. Or didn't you know that you get graded on that? And not to mention that other students notice and tell their parents that such and such don't have that brand name supply and the parents get an atitude of "we are better that they are". And don't say you don't because you do. I have heard it at many of my friend's houses. So don't go there. The same for clothing.
Durring my high school years, I dressed in jeans and a t-shirt with a flannel tied around my waist. Why? Because my family does not have alot of money and that was all we had. The most accesorising I did was what color flannel to wear.
Now your saying, see... you dress differently. Nope. We do not. Everyone wears jeans and t-shirts. We are regulated as to what kind and color and size of jeans and shirts we can wear. The only piece of identity I had was my flannel and they are taking that away. For my friends it was their trenchcoats. Well that went bye bye. We were good kids. We just are not followers. We are not happy looking like everyone else.
And did you also know that we are limited to what color of make-up (if any) we can wear? At my school you could not wear dark lipstick and eyeshadow or even eyeliner.
How would you adults like that? Can we say disgruntled postal workers??? Well? Alright then.
You know it starts from kindergarden. You put children that are full of energy into a class with other children full of energy and expect them to be robots and sit still. Well kids don't do that. And when they don't you punish them. It is their nature damnit! Or you will put them on drugs. My Goddess what the hell do you think your doing???? Kids are supose to have energy up the wazzu!
This is done to us for 12 years of our life. I think my message is clear. If not read this again and think about it.
Oh and one last thing. You say that parents should spend more time with their kids. Well you don't let us!
I got up for school at 5:30 am.
I got on the bus at 6:15 am
Was in school from 7:25am to 2:30pm
Get home around 3:30pm
do chores untill 5:00pm
eat dinner at 5:00 pm till 5:30 pm
do homework till 8:00 pm
Take a bath at 8:10 pm till 8:50pm
Which leaves me the child and hour and ten min of free time till I have
to go to bed.
Now you tell me, when am *I* supose to have time with my parents.
My message to all of you adults is, change the system or we will do it for you. And beleive me you don't want that.
